  • Jan Vandeputte (born 1963) has an MSc in Clinical Nursing form the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (1983 – 1986 nursing degree Sint Jan Institute Bruges and in 1986 -1989 MSc Leuven) and
    has been active as a wound care nurse since 1990. He started to work at the transplantation Unit in Leuven and moved after marriage to Brugge to work 2 years as a nurse in the St Jan Hospital in
    Bruges. Then, he moved to Ostend to become an infection control Nurse for 7 years (1993 -2000). He has published several articles in International magazines (Dutch and English) and is author of 2 books about wound care (Dutch language). He has combined clinical practice with fundamental research and created 3 patents of wound care products. For 20 years he was a wound care lecturer in 4 medical faculties (Leuven, Kortrijk, Antwerp and Brussels) and was a lecturer in 6 Nursing schools in Belgium. He has been an invited speaker for at least 12 international wound care events (Belgium, USA, UK, Kenya, Indonesia, Hongkong, South Africa, France, The Netherlands, Sweden, Thailand, Spain, etc.).
    He has been a co-founder and Chairmen of the Clinical Nursing consulting Society from 1995 till 2000 and he is still an active
    member of the Society. For 28 years he worked part time as a district nurse in Belgium (region West Flanders) and from 2010 till 2014 he ran a wound clinic in London (in Reading) where a hyperbaric unit was used to treat difficult to heal wounds. For several months he worked as a registered district nurse to treat wounds at the home of the patients in the London area. For the last 6 years of that period he was also active as a developer of skin care and wound care products containing honey and ozonated olive oil. He has also over 20 years of experience with the regulatory side of
    wound care products (production and registration), ISO 13485 in several countries. He is still an active researcher about wound care products and the clinical effect they might have.
