Ines Sousa is originally from Portugal where she completed her undergraduate studies and worked as a registered nurse for 5 years. She arrived in Australia 6 years ago and is currently working as a critical care registered nurse and research nurse. Passionate about nursing and research, and actively seeking to positively contribute to the nursing profession and health care sector while improving people’s lives, she decided to develop her skills and knowledge further and study a Master of Advanced Nursing. She completed her master degree with the University of Melbourne last year. As a great patient’s advocate and with an enormous interest in pressure injuries prevention, as part of her masters, she conducted a research project in the ICU setting that investigated the feasibility of using a purpose-designed device for positioning for maintenance of body position in immobile critically ill patients at high-risk of developing pressure injuries. A manuscript of the study has been accepted by the International Wounds Journal and will be published in the near future.
