Dr Karen Abbey is a Foodservice Dietitian, Special Dietary Chef and has consulted, worked and provided training extensively across the foodservice sector both here and overseas. Karen is also a Clinical Academic working at the University of Queensland and lecturing in Foodservice for the Masters of Nutrition and Dietetics program and is a research lead in foodservice science. Karen is the Director of Nutrition and Catering Consultancy and founder of the Nutrition and Catering Global Hub and Nutrition and Catering Institute. Karen is a passionate foodservice dietitian and chef researching the importance of quality in foodservices, foodservice system, menu planning and design, recipes development and finding practical solutions for those in care and working in foodservices. Karen chef speciality is working directly with aged care chefs and skills development in texture modification meals, food therapeutics and fortification. Karen has over 25 years of working in the foodservice industry, aged care and community sector. Karen is passionate about foodservcies and promotes food as a vehicle for improved health and through innovations in foodservice can support increased quality care.
